The Shrewsbury Thief Detecting Society has been formed with the purpose of catching thieves in town. They will meet in a public house as long as one is maintained, then move to the vestry of the Congregational Church and finally the Town Hall when it is built in 1872. Meetings will continue for over one hundred years.
