A result of the incredible force of giant glaciers covering Ice Age Shrewsbury millions of years ago, Balanced Rock still stands set back from what will later be Route 140. It is a popular tourist attraction and has been the subject of several postcards. It has also been called Dog’s Head and Old Poet.
