White City, named for its abundance of bright white lights at night, opens its doors to the anxious public, unveiling a fantastic amusement park on the east shore of Lake Quinsigamond. Over the coming years it will host a Japanese tea garden, a public ballroom, a penny arcade, a wax museum, a fun house, a roller skating rink, band concerts, circus acts, marathon dancing, fireworks, popular singers, beauty pageants, and an enormous swimming pool. Its popularity will span two World Wars and fifty years. In 1960 White City will open its doors one last time for free and close them forever.
