1944 WWII

America is at war. Old license plates, tin cans, and papers are collected at the corner of South Quinsigamond Avenue and John Street to help the war effort. The Shrewsbury Lion’s Club has provided an airplane in the Pacific. The town is dotted with victory gardens as our neighbors buy war bonds, ration fuel and foods, and take part in enemy air craft watch. The bright lights of White City Amusement Park are dimmed by blackout regulations.
